SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Starla J. Cason, 49, of South Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with Pastor Kathy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cason was born Nov. 1, 1953, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jack A. and DeLores A. (Bornholtz) Blades. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1971.

She married George Cason on May 20, 1972, in Elk Point, S.D. She lived in Sioux City until moving to South Sioux City in 1994. She worked for Sears as a manager in the electronic and appliance department until 1993. She had worked in the service industry since that time.

She was active with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for several years. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cribbage and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Michael Cason of Sioux City; a daughter, Jennifer Cason of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Kealey Mae and Zakary Michael Cason; her parents, Jack and DeLores Blades of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Sheryl and Tim Wilcox of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Viola Bornholtz of Sioux City; a special friend, Don White of South Sioux City and his children, Colby and Casey White; a sister-in-law, Brenda Blades of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Blades.
