Reinold D. Becker, 67, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 26, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army Reserves. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a vigil service at 8 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Reinold D. Becker was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Hartington, Neb., the son of Reinold W. and Rose (Jueden) Becker. He attended school in Hartington and graduated from Trinity Catholic School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955.

He married Frances Hamilton on Aug. 26, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wynot, Neb. The couple moved to Sioux City, where he was employed with several packing houses, including John Morrell. He retired from John Morrell in 1995.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Meat Cutters Union Local 222 of Sioux City, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Lodge 7 in Sioux City. He enjoyed camping, sprint car races, watching all types of sports, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Sioux City; three sons, Thomas Becker and his wife, Dorene of Sioux City, Reynold Becker of Sioux City, and Orvin Smith of South Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Michael Johnson of Sioux City, and Paula and Eldon Cleveland of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Anthony Harder, Nathaniel Cleveland, Chad Johnson, Thomas P. Becker and Jacob Becker; a brother and his wife, Richard and Shirley Becker of Sioux City; three sisters, Rita Marx of Sioux City, Mary Rae and her husband, Dean Albrecht of Sioux City, and Joan and her husband, Arthur Noecker of Bird Island, N.M.; his mother-in-law, Margaret Hamilton of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; a brother, Donavon; and a sister, Loretta.

Pallbearers will be Dean Albrecht, Michael Johnson, Thomas Becker, Eldon Cleveland, Anthony Harder and Reynold Becker. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Becker and Orvin Smith.
