Fred W. Miller, 86, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a vigil service at 8 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Miller was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Scott and Briget (O'Hara) Miller. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident and attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and East High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed with Armour and Co. for 45 years.

He was a charter member of Local 34 UPWA-CIO. He enjoyed picnics and family gatherings.

Survivors include a sister, Martha Hodgins of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, Bernice, Mary, Dorothy, Lylola, Genevieve, Lucille and Irene; and three brothers, Joseph, Andrew and Leo.

Pallbearers will be Fred, Jim, Ed and Scott Miller, Larry Pritchett and Ronald Marsh. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Miller and Susan Miller.
