Marie L. Leedom, 94, formerly of Sioux City passed away Dec. 15, 2004, in Van Nuys, Calif.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Marie was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Aquascaliente, Mexico, the daughter of Cruz and Gregoria Alvarez. Her family moved to Sioux City when she was 10 years old. She attended St. Joseph School and Woodrow Wilson Junior High.

She married George Leedom on Sept. 3, 1938.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church for more than 50 years. She acquired many friends there through her parish volunteer work and also working in the school lunch program. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo with friends and nieces. She also was quite a football fan. She will be remembered for the dinners she prepared for her children's friends, especially all those tortillas, tacos and enchiladas. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She was quite the family historian.

Survivors include her daughter, Dolores Carr of Little Elm, Texas; a son and his wife, Randy and Kitty of Van Nuys, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Gladys and Frank Jones of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Brenda Groogan, Mark, Todd and Russell Bauer of Anchorage, Alaska, Scott Carr of Fayetteville, Ga., Kirk Carr of Irving, Texas, Bart Carr of The Colony, Texas, and Gregory and Jeff Leedom of Van Nuys, Calif.; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lillian Bauer; brothers, Ben, Pete, Alfonso, Asuncion and Albert; a brother, John passed away April 23, 2005.
