David L.L. "Skeeter" Sorensen, 64, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

The body has been cremated. There will be no services. Arrangements are under direction of Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel.

David was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Oelrichs, S.D., the son of Hans Edward and Opal C. (Fiscus) Sorensen. He moved to Sioux City as a child and attended Central High School.

He married Vonna Durston on Aug. 9, 1959. In 1959, he went to work for Tastee Inn and Out and later became the manager of the Court Street location. He worked there until 1974. He then owned and operated the Holiday Restaurant for a few years. At the same time he opened the restaurant, he began operating Skeets Catering. He operated the catering truck until 1983. For the past several years, he had owned and operated rental properties in Sioux City.

He loved to garden and was known for his tomatoes. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a past member of the bowling leagues in Sioux City. He was a very kind person and loved helping his family and friends. He was best known as a person who loved to visit with his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Vonna of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Starr Lynn and Loren Peters of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Troy and Elena Sorensen of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Kaila, Alaina, Josiah, Shiloh, Elijah and Savannah; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister, Virginia Mae.
