(Photo accompanied this obituary)Fred W. Rundle, 82, 207 Fifth St., Sergeant Bluff, Woodbury Township Clerk, died Wednesday at his residence after a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sergeant Bluff Community United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gregory Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in the Sergeant Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. There will be a graveside flag presentation by the George Nelson Post 552, American Legion.
Mr. Rundle was born Jan. 29, 1898, in rural Sergeant Bluff and was a lifelong area resident.
He married Blanche E. Jepson March 22, 1932, at Dakota City. He worked at the Sergeant Bluff brickyard for many years, later he worked as a county road maintainer. Following retirement as road maintainer, he worked for the federal government at the Sioux City Air Base retiring in 1966. He was serving as Woodbury Township Clerk at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Sergeant Bluff Community United Methodist Church, a charter and life member of the George Nelson Post 662, American Legion. He formerly served on the Sergeant Bluff city council and was a former sexton at the Sergeant Bluff cemetery for many years. He served in the Army during World War I.
Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Housel of Winchester, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Marie) Isebrands of Park Rapids, Iowa, and three grandchildren.
