Chad L. Wendte, 31, of Sioux City died of natural causes Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel, with the Rev. Fred M. Penner, retired pastor of Glendale Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.

Chad was born Oct. 31, 1976, in Sioux City. He was raised in South Sioux City, where he graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1995. He had lived all his life in the Siouxland area. He and his wife, Becky, ran a daycare center for a number of years.

He was good with his hands and enjoyed woodworking and carving. He enjoyed fishing, playing video games and playing cards, especially cribbage. He enjoyed his friends who referred to him as Spiderman. He loved his family and his dogs. He was an avid Nebraska "Big Red" fan.

Survivors include his wife, Becky A. Harris of Sioux City; his daughter, Alyssa Wright of Sioux City; his parents, Roger and Pamela Wendte of South Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Robin and Ken Arens of Omaha; his nephew and godchild, Benjamin Arens of Omaha; his paternal grandmother, Donna Anderson of South Sioux City; and his in-laws, Mary Ann and Harry Krommenhoek of South Sioux City and Duane Harris of South Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Wendte; his maternal grandparents, Lyle and Vivian Ferguson; his paternal grandfather, Roy Wendte; and his paternal step-grandfather, Derrel Anderson.
