SIOUX CITY -- Patrick Joseph Rickord, 72, of Kapaa, Hawaii, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sept. 23, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Services were held Sept. 25 at St. Catherine Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Patrick Joseph Rickord was born in Sioux City on Nov. 11, 1935. He served his country with pride in military service with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and as a paratrooper. He retired from the Federal Government. He moved to Kauai in 1997 with his wife, Adele, after retiring from the U.S. Postal Service.

One of his passions in life was golfing. His intellect and compassion for his fellow human beings was unsurpassed. Loved by friends and neighbors everywhere, he will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Adele; a brother, Bill; a daughter, Wynette; sons, Patrick, Michael and Kevin Troy; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
