A. J. Kusian, Moville, Dies;
Rites Monday.

MOVILLE, Iowa – Amandus J. Kusian Jr., 66, of Moville, past president of the Moville Chamber of Commerce, died Thursday evening at a Sioux City hospital following a one-year illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Moville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. John A. Dowd, will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Moville, under the direction of McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Wink-Sparks Post 303, American Legion, will conduct a flag presentation at the cemetery. Trial Lodge 532 AF&AM will conduct Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kusian was born Feb. 20, 1911, at Lawton. He moved to Moville with his parents at the age of two. He was graduated from Moville High School and attended Iowa State University at Ames.

Mr. Kusian operated a hatchery at Moville for several years and for the past 30 years had operated Kusie’s Café and Grocery at Moville.

Mr. Kusian was a sergeant in the 79th Engineering Battalion and served two years in the Army during World War II.

He married Ramona Kinsella Chandler on May 24, 1950, at Blair, Neb.

Mr. Kusian was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, member and past master of Trial Lodge 532 AF&AM of Moville, a member of the Sioux City Consistry, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, Wink-Sparks Post 303, American Legion, the Meadows Country Club at Moville, long time neighborhood commissioner and committeeman for Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and member of the Black Bull Club, a local adult scouting association.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Willard F. Chandler of Arlington, Tex., and Thomas E. Chandler of Camache; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Consuella) Schulz of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. William (Mary Lou) Kammerer of Moville; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Lucille) Harper of Fremont, Neb., and Mrs. Vern (Maud) Louk of Greenfield; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
