Gloryellen "Kipp" Lalley, 77, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at her residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin J. Schrad and Monsignor Roger J. Augustine, senior priest in residence, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a St. Therese Study Club rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Kipp was born April 4, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Emily Kipp. She was raised in Waterloo, where she attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She moved to Sioux City after high school, where she attended Briar Cliff College and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School. She lived the rest of her life in Sioux City.

She married James E. Lalley on May 1, 1954 in Waterloo. She was employed as a laboratory technician for many years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and for the Siouxland Community Blood Bank.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she served on the parish council and the funeral lunch committee. She belonged to St. Therese Study Club. She was a volunteer at the Bargain Center. She enjoyed golf and belonged to a golf league. She did quilting and liked to work in her vegetable garden. She was a former member of the Heelan Gold Club. she was a volunteer for the Sioux City Right to Life organization and for the Reach to Recovery organization. She was the first girl's basketball coach for the seventh and eighth grade girls at the Blessed Sacrament Elementary School.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Sioux City; three children, Stephen Lalley of Everett, Wash., Michael Lalley and his wife, Lynda of Cedarburg, Wis., and Marijo Lalley of Boston, Mass.; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Amanda Lalley of Cedarburg, Wis.; a brother, Bob Kipp of Florida; and a sister, Rita Bentley of Denver, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Kipp; and a sister, Margaret Wales-Rawlinson.

Pallbearers will be Jack Berg, Ted Alvey, Tom Malone, Glenn LeGrand, Mitch Lalley and Scott Smith.
