Norma Jean Pitchford, 68, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (formerly Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel), with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Norma was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Huron, S.D., the daughter of Jessie B. and Emma M. (Schmidt) Leaver. She grew up in the Broadland, S.D., area near Huron, S.D.

She married Howard J. Pitchford on Feb. 2, 1976, in Borger, Texas. He passed away on Dec. 31, 1994, in Tahlaquah, Okla. She had lived in Tahlaquah, moved to Borger and then to Sioux City.

Survivors include four sons, Darin Miller of Sioux City, Richard Neiman of Dakota City, John Neiman of Sioux City, and Darrell Roberts of Rice Lake, Wis.; three daughters, Nancy Roberts, Bobbie Roberts and Julie Roberts, all of Rice Lake; two brothers, Floyd Leaver of Sioux City, and Lester Leaver of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Rose Namanny of Rapid City, S.D., Betty Rasmussen of Valley City, N.D., Beverly Humphrey of Hobbs, N.M., and Carol Strege of Whitewood, S.D.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Duane and Donald Leaver.

Pallbearers will be Frank Shade, Dean Leaver, Harold Faatz, Barb Linsink, Al Ahrnkiel and Cletis Orr.
