Mrs. Karrer was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Florence (Walden) Asay and Francis Asay. She was baptized at Know Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. They were active members of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 13 years and shared her beautiful singing voice by performing solos and duets for weddings, funerals and as a faithful participant of the church choir. Her giving heart and caring ways were obvious in her active participation in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (Ladies Aid) and the neighborhood ladies group named "The Willing Workers."

She also enjoyed canning, baking and photography. Her children and grandchildren will be forever grateful for her many wonderful recipes and for the beautiful photo albums that she complied for each and every member of her family.
