Don C. Torgenson Sr., 81, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Marvin Mueller and Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Don C. Torgenson was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Glenwood, Utah, the son of Joseph C. and Hazel (Sampson) Torgenson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946.

He married Tillie (Bechtold) McLaughlin on Dec. 31, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nev. He had been a resident of Sioux City since 1989. He worked for the Engineering Department for the State of Nevada until his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and loved to attend church. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Club in South Sioux City. He enjoyed the outdoors. He liked fishing and gardening. He also loved to watch ball games. The couple enjoyed square dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Tillie Torgenson; a son, Don C. Torgenson Jr.; two sisters, Julia Werber and Anita Adams; two stepsons, Kenny Ulmer and Eddie Ulmer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Blaine Torgenson; and a sister, Norma Dean.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Elizabeth and Twila.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Ulmer, Kenny Ulmer, Mike Ulmer, Steven Ulmer, Rollie Ulmer and Mary Ulmer
