Gerald "Jerry" Emerick, 71, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Resurrection at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Jerry was born Aug. 26, 1934, in Wyndotte, Mich., the son of Cleveland and Mable (Jones) Emerick. He was raised in Michigan. He came to Sioux City in 1959. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He married Margaret Jordan on June 24, 1961, in Sioux City. He worked for the city of Sioux City in the parks department, working on the swimming pools. He retired at the age of 62 due to ill health.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Sioux City; three sons and their wives, William and Julie, Michael and Amy and Jon and Samantha, all of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Renee, Steven and Ethan Emerick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, LeRoy, Paul, Jess and Jack Emerick; and three sisters, Dorothy Consiglio, Pauline Emerick and Evelyn Ouellette.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Jorgenson, David Jorgenson, Andy Amick, Tony Creswell, Lloyd Bach and Renee Emerick. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan and Steven Emerick.
