6 December 2005HINTON, Iowa -- Irene H. Jones, 80, of Hinton died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Adlaie and Henrietta (Riediger) Bogenrief. She was a lifelong resident of Hinton. She graduated from Hinton High School and Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, with a degree in teaching.
She married Forrest "Pat" Jones on June 5, 1947, in Hinton. He died June 12, 2002, in Sioux City. She was an elementary education teacher in Hinton for 34 years. She also taught for a few years in Merrill, Iowa.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and played the organ at Calvary Lutheran and at various other churches in the area. Playing the organ was an important part of her life, but she also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie Jones of Deadwood, S.D.; a son, Dennis Jones of Hinton; a sister, Mildred Lahrs of rural Merrill, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Shanell and Stephanie and their mother, Collette, and Taylor and Tristin and their mother, Lisa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Richard and Steve.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Bogenrief, Myron Riediger, Larry Jones, Bruce Kramer, Denny Schroer, Mike Weinrich and Keith Tullis.
