SALIX, Iowa -- Edwin L. Eveleth, 74, of rural Salix died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Sloan, Iowa. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ed was born Dec. 17, 1930, near Salix, the son of Leon E. and Cecile (Graham) Eveleth. He grew up in the Salix area and attended Salix School.

He was married to Ruth Hatfield on Dec. 18, 1971, in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City until moving to the farm south of Salix, where they have lived for 24 years. He farmed for 20 years, then started his own plumbing and remodeling business.

He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Sioux City and was a troop leader for the Salix Boy Scout Troop for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Salix; a son and his wife, Ken and Dot of Salix; two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Randy Loshey of Dayton, Wyo., and Sharon and David Burnham of Kalispell, Mont.; stepsons and their wives, Steve and Mary Palmquist of Portland, Ore., and David and Donna Eveleth of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Phyllis and Ron Kelly of Salix.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta; a son, Steve; and his parents.

Memorials may be directed to Pleasant View Care Facility in Whiting, Iowa.
