Thomas E. Rogers Sr., 74, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Epiphany, with the Very Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Tom was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Sioux City, the son of John W. and Mary (McTaggart) Rogers. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force from November 1947 until February 1957.

He married Jeanette A. Barron on June 14, 1958, in Sioux City. He was a truck driver for Marx Truck and retired in 1993. He also was a part-time bus driver for the Siouxland Senior Center.

He was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, pool and playing the trumpet.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Rogers; three children, Mary Patricia Monk and her fiance, Vernon Zordrager of Sioux City, Thomas E. "T.J." Rogers Jr. of Sioux City and Elizabeth Rogers of Olympia, Wash.; his mother, Mary Rogers of Stuart, Neb.; a brother, Michael Rogers and his wife, Ramona of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Sigrid Rogers of West Virginia; and three grandchildren, Jack A. Fischer, Nicholas C. Rogers and Brian J. Rogers.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. "Jack" Rogers; and his father, John W. Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Rogers, Brian Rogers, Keith McGuire, Ronald Derochie, Neal Derochie and Sy Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Abbott and Ralph "Mick" Derochie.
