SALIX, Iowa -- Ella M. Ullrich, 96, of Salix passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Ella Ullrich was born April 1, 1909, in Thurston County, Neb., the daughter of Thomas and Estelle (Garrett) Conley. She attended school in Winnebago, Neb., Oto Public School and Iowa State Teachers College (U.N.I.) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught for six years in a one-room school in Monona County, Iowa.

She married E.F. "Bert" Ullrich on April 17, 1934, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Tabernacle Society and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include her children, Sister Dolores Ullrich of Dubuque, Iowa, Julie and her husband, Duane Calvert of Albuquerque, N.M., Betty and her husband, John Emge of Kingsley, Iowa, LaVonne and her husband, Richard Hill of Aurora, Colo., Bert and his wife, Glenda of Sergeant Bluff, Jean and her husband, Dale Gutenkauf of Onaka, S.D., Elaine and her husband, Mike Dishman of Tulsa, Okla. and Tom and his wife, Roxie Ullrich of Sloan, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Hildegard Ullrich of Mapleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; a brother, William "Iver" Conley; and four sisters, Lenore Kintigh, Clara Elskamp, Elva Jane Miller and Celeste Ogilvie.

Memorials may be directed to the Sisters of St. Francis of Dubuque, Iowa.
