Ida Leona Woods, was born Jan. 13, 1911, in Dakota County, Neb., the last living of eight children born to Frank and Edith Brotherton.

Before moving to Country Estates, she had been a resident at Cypress Court and the Citadel retirement homes, where she had been socially active.

She loved music and rhythm and acquired an extensive vinyl record collection to which she enjoyed listening. For 20 years, she directed the Hacienda de Valencia Rhythm Band and could be seen tapping her toe and waving her baton in front of the band at various gatherings at mobile home parks and retirement home around The Valley.

She is survived by a son and his wife, James and Marie of Mesa; James' children and spouses, Linda Lee and Les Zahnow of Carefree, Ariz., James Jr. and Vickie of Iowa, Craig and Debbie of Texas, Rodney and Patty of Iowa, and his youngest son, Clayton who was a casualty of Vietnam; a son and his wife, David and Nancy of Mesa; David's children and spouses, Bradley and Gina of Gilbert, Ariz., Robert and Carol of Mesa and John and Dina of Mesa; 14 great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
