Lois M. Kubler, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. She willed her body to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Lois was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Alfred and Ellen (Davidson) Johnson. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1937. She continued her education at Buena Vista School of Business in Storm Lake, Iowa. She worked in Chicago for several years in various secretarial positions.
She married Louis Edward Kubler in 1943, in Alexandria, Va. They resided in Arlington, Va. From 1957 to 1984, she was associated with Sioux City Stationery as a gift buyer and bridal consultant.
She was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player and loved the cultural arts.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Rick and Dianne Kubler of Columbus, Neb.; three grandchildren, Michaelle and her husband, Paul Thele of Omaha, Jon Kubler and his wife, Suzanne of Omaha and Carrie Kubler of Columbus, Neb.; two great-grandchildren, McKenna and Cayden; a brother and his wife, Robert and Mary Lou Johnson of Omaha; three sisters, Doris Wilson of Sioux City, Eunice Cox of McKinney, Texas, and Leone Lane of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glenn Johnson; and three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Wilson, Ralph Cox and Robert Lane.
