Thelma M. Higgins, 100, of Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Silver Cross Nursing Center in Rock Island.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City. There will be no visitation as everyone had recently gathered for the 100th birthday. Arrangements are under the direction of Wheelan Funeral Home in Rock Island. Condolences may be sent online to www.wheelanfuneralhome.com.

Thelma Wills was born Nov. 5, 1905, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ira Duncan and Clara Dell (Little) Wills. She married Dr. Harold W. Higgins in 1927, in Sioux City. He died in 1954.

She was a former member of First Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter, both of Sioux City. She also was a member of the American Business Women's Association.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and James Koch of Rock Island, Ill.; grandsons and their wives, Richard and Kathy Koch of Tulsa, Okla., and David and Ann Koch of Fairfax Station, Va.; great-grandchildren, Andrew Koch of Austin, Texas, James Koch of Tulsa, Okla., and Daniel, Steven and Elizabeth Koch, all of Fairfax Station, Va.; sisters, Kay Shaw of Antioch, Calif., and Beryl Anderson of Marysville, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters.

Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
