Neal Alfred Post Jr. of Sioux City passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005.

Following a private family service with Chaplain Stacey Pecaut Gearhart officiating, a celebration of life will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sioux City Country Club. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Neal was born April 24, 1927, the son of Neal A. and Corrine (Herren) Post, in Independence, Kan. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he attended Independence Junior College, then transferred to the University of Kansas. He was an avid Jayhawks supporter.

There he met his future wife, Mary, and Lawrence, Kan. was their home until 1958, when he went to work for Sioux Tools. The family moved to Southern California. In 1978, he was promoted to marketing manager and he and Mary moved to Sioux City. He retired in 1992.

Particularly in California, he was very active in the community of Orange. Being an Eagle Scout, he remained active in the program and received the Silver Beaver Award. He also served as president of the YMCA for six years and as president of the board of trustees at First Presbyterian Church for four years. His responsibility was the funding for the new sanctuary. In retirement, the Posts enjoyed visiting their children, grandchildren, friends and Arizona.

He leaves his wife, Mary; two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Steve Wright of Miami, Okla., Deborah and Larry Humes of The Woodlands, Texas; a son and his wife, Neal "Corky" and Rita Post of Canyon Lake, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Shaun, Dustin and Derek Wright, Carly Humes, Neal IV, Bradley and Ashley Post; and a sister, Mary Ann Boliaris of Milwaukee, Wis.
