SERGEANT BLUFF -- Beverly J. "Blackie" Skinner, 70, of Sergeant Bluff passed away following a brief illness on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Beverly was born Nov. 19, 1934, the daughter of Thurman and Elsie (Gruebel) Black. She graduated from East High School in 1953.

On June 28, 1958, she married Floyd Adam Skinner in Elk Point, S.D. Floyd was a pharmacist and his work took him to many towns in Iowa. During the 1990s, they lived in Waterloo, where Beverly worked at Von Maurs. After Floyd died, she moved to Sergeant Bluff in 2000. Beverly recently worked at Younkers at the Lancome counter.

Survivors include three sons, Michael and Darlene DuFrene-Skinner of Sioux Falls, S.D., Randy Skinner of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Clay Skinner of Sergeant Bluff; two daughters, Melanie and her husband, Rob Parry of Perth, Australia, and Kelly and her husband, Mike of Hornick, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Tara Moss, Jerry DeGeest, Rocky DeGeest, Hilary Rosenthal, Dylan Rosenthal, Randi Hanson, Chad Johnson and Cory Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Elexis Moss.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a brother, Thurman M. "Dude" Black.

The family wishes to thank those who provided excellent care for their mother, the hospital staff at St. Luke's Cancer Ward, 4th Floor and Hospice of Siouxland.
