Lawton, Iowa – James T. Schlesser, 72, of Lawton, died Monday, April 21, 1997 at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Chris Van Oosbree officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Schlesser was born December 19, 1924, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Frank and Irene (Schreiner) Schlesser. He was raised in rural Struble, Iowa.

He married Marjorie D. Berens on June 11, 1947, in Sioux City.

He was a mechanic and farmed in the Lawton area since 1955.

Mr. Schlesser was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Mark Davies of Lawton; two sons, Dr. Michael of Dallas, Texas and Thomas and his wife, Claire of Chicago; a brother, William of Le Mars, Iowa; a sistr and her husband, Rosalie and Dennis Ketcham of Omaha and two grandchildren, Kerri and Kelly Davies.

Pallbearers will be Norman Thoreson, Gail Bauerly, Jerome Blum, Jeff and Tom Berens and Dan Ketcham.
