Donald W. Rosfjord, 68, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Memorial Garden at Marshalltown, Iowa, with the Rev. Blaine Niskanen, associate pastor of Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Rosfjord was born February 24, 1929, in Marshalltown, the son of Herman and Mabel (Knudsen) Rosfjord.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Judy McDonnell on August 14, 1949, in Marshalltown.

The couple farmed near Marshalltown until 1960, then he was a district sales supervisor for various seed corn companies in Illinois and Iowa. They moved to Pocahontas, Iowa, in 1965, where he served as the Pocahontas County weed commissioner until 1996. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1996.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas for 29 years, where he taught Sunday School, was a member of the church council, treasurer and the Drama Club. He was also a member of the Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Craig of Eagle Lake, Minnesota, Mark and his wife, Lonnie, of Pocahontas and Chris and his wife, Betty Ann, of Estherville, Iowa; four daughters, Penny Rosfjord, Susan Dean, Celia Christensen and Emily and her husband, Alan Peters, all of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Howard and Barbara of Marshalltown; a brother-in-law, Rod McDonnell of Marshalltown; two sisters and their husbands, Vivian and Wayne Kouba of Garwin, Iowa and Marjorie and Howard Stubbs of Marshalltown, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Archie of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Pallbearers will be Stephen and Merlin Rosfjord, Dan Stubbs, Tim Seim, Alan Peters and Len Carpenter.
