Jonathan Elliot Wilton, 29, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 3, 2005, from complications due to juvenile diabetes.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Assembly of God, with the Revs. Tom Jacobs and Lee Crum officiating. The body will be cremated following the service Wednesday. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Jonathan was born May 2, 1975, in Edina, Minn., the son of Paul and Eva (LaFleur) Wilton. He was dedicated to the Lord at First Assembly of God in Sioux City. He attended schools in Paullina, Iowa, Bassett, Neb., Lawton-Bronson, Iowa, and Sioux City. He graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1993. He briefly attended Morningside College.

His passions in life were his family, his vast number of friends, Star Wars, playing music, cooking, playing Risk, Iowa Hawkeye football with his Dad and fishing. He enjoyed "Jonathan" time, where he proceeded in life at his own pace. Reading was also a great passion in his life. He was well versed in the Bible and many other subjects. He was presently a chef of Rebo's in Sioux City.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Paul and Janine Wilton of Sioux City; his mother and stepfather, Eva and Jim Treinen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Allyson and Rebecca of Sioux City; six stepsiblings, Jessica Holmes of Sioux City, Heather Holmes of Scottsdale, Ariz., Raymond Treinen of Toledo, Ohio, Angie Treinen and Paul Treinen, both of Wichita, Kan., and Sara Treinen of Orlando, Fla.; paternal grandmother, Marguerite "Dolly" Wilton of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Ruth LaFleur Lowrey of Le Mars, Iowa; paternal uncles and their wives, Ronald and Sarah Barnes of Hacienda Heights, Calif., John and Caryl Wilton of Omaha and Phil and Sue Wilton of Broken Bow, Okla.; maternal aunts and uncles, Bonnie LaFleur of Apache Junction, Ariz., Kathy and Lloyd Braband of Le Mars, Iowa, Sandy and E.B. Baker of Sergeant Bluff, Jim LaFleur of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Gary and Carol LaFleur of St. Augustine, Fla.; numerous cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles; and a multitude of friends.

He enjoyed a large group of friends especially, Colin O'Sullivan, James Fitzgerald, Brad Gordon, Jeff Booth, Jeff Moon, Josh and Jake Ronfeldt, Matt Seitzinger, Jason Grieve, Harold Mackey, Gretchen Wickey and many others.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles Wilton Sr.; maternal grandfather, Herbert LaFleur; an uncle, Charles Wilton Jr.; and a favorite great-uncle, Arthur Paul.

A memorial has been established in his name in care of the family.
