Mary Colleen "Kelly" Owen, 79, of Kennewick, Wash., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005, in Kennewick.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Thursday in the Community Room of the Riverside Garden Apartments, 715 Bruner Ave., in Sioux City, with the family present at 4 p.m. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Pasco Senior Center in Pasco, Wash.

Kelly was born the first of nine children to Russell and Edine Clark in Sioux City, on June 1, 1925. She grew up on a farm in Sergeant Bluff and lived most of her life in Sioux City, moving to Kennewick in 2000.

She married twice, first to LaVerne Jarman, then to Arthur Owen for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker until her youngest child was in the fifth grade, cooking and baking everything from scratch. She then went to work for the Sioux City Journal in the dispatch department and worked there until her retirement.

She was a lifetime member of the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star and loved making her homemade chicken and noodles for the annual supper at the Riverside Temple in Sioux City. She also loved being a mother and throughout her life told anyone, who would stand still long enough to listen, how proud she was of her children. One of the greatest gifts she passed on to her children was her love of books and reading. She always wanted to be where the action was, preferably playing poker or cribbage, at family gatherings or with her friends at the Pasco Senior Center or her apartment complex.

She is survived by her sons, Dean (June) Jarman of Arlington, S.D., and Bill (Sharron) Owen of Pasco, Wash.; her daughters, Malola (Larry) Atwood of Sioux City, Susan (Bill) Leckband of Benton City, Wash., Mary Beth (Kevin) Dage of Richland, Wash., and Jamie Broberg of Kennewick, Wash.; sisters, Lorraine Houlihan of St. Pete Beach, Fla., and Julie "Dee-Dee" Dreyer of Anaheim, Calif.; brothers, John Clark of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Dan Clark of LaPort City, Iowa, and Jerry Clark and Dennis Clark, both of Garden Grove, Calif.; grandchildren, Christy Margerum, Heather Fairchild, Brandon Jarman, Dustin Jarman, Scott Atwood, Megan Atwood, Melanie Godinez, Rory Leckband, Jeremy Owen, DeNomy Dage, Chantry Dage, Caitlin Broberg and Owen Broberg; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friends at the Pasco Senior Center, in her apartment complex in Kennewick and in Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Genevieve "Genny" Chase and Dorothy "Wee-Wee" Arnold.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Siouxland Hospice.
