Helen M. Behrendt, 74, of Sioux City died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital from complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Resurrection Cemetery at Omaha, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Helen was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of James and Catherine (Carden) McGuirl. She lived in New Jersey until moving to Sioux City in 1968. She then worked for Drs. Krigsten and Grossman for about 20 years.

She married William H. Behrendt on Nov. 11, 1951.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Survivors include her husband of over 53 years, Bill; a son, William J. Behrendt and his wife, Jeanette, of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Mary Beth Wiese and her husband, Grant, of Sioux City; a brother, George McGuirl and his wife, Ann Marie, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph and John Behrendt; and two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and David Wiese.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James McGuirl.
