SMITHLAND, Iowa -- Marty Ketelsen, 61, of Smithland died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oto United Church of Christ in Oto, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Marty Ketelsen was born May 27, 1943, in rural Anthon, the son of Martin and Mary (Sands) Ketelsen. He graduated from Anthon High School with the class of 1962.

He worked on Highway 20 with Dixon Construction. He later worked at Wilson Trailer in Sioux City and Gateway in North Sioux City. During all this time, Marty helped out on the family farm.

Marty enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing and camping. In recent years, he liked riding tractors in area parades.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ketelsen of Smithland, Iowa; three sons, Matt of North Sioux City and Jimmy and Carl, both of Florida; three brothers, Bill Ketelsen and Don Ketelsen, both of Anthon, and Larry Ketelsen of Kingsley, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Tommy and one in infancy; and a sister, Mary Lou.
