CUSHING, Iowa -- Virginia Lee Reyman, 70, of Cushing passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing, with Pastor Curtis Benson officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville, Iowa.

Virginia Lee Reyman, daughter of Lester and Hilda (Westphal) Groepper, was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Cushing. She attended school in Cushing, Eureka #4 country school, located southeast of Correctionville and then graduated from Correctionville High School in 1953.

She married Lewis S. Reyman on June 24, 1956, in Cushing. They farmed several places before moving to their present home south of Cushing, which is now a family Century Farm.

She attended Wayne State Teacher's College for two years and then graduated from Morningside College with a bachelor of science degree in education. She taught in Anthon for several years and then in the Eastwood and River Valley school systems. She retired in 2000 after teaching for 37 years and continued to be a substitute teacher at River Valley.

Virginia was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the history committee, membership committee and the WELCA circle. She was a co-founder of Cushing Homemakers 4-H Club of which she was a leader for many years, also serving as a Woodbury County Fair superintendent and an area fair judge. She was the Cushing Library chairman and helped write grants to get this funded. She was a member of the Cushing Writers Club, a local book discussion group and a member of the Hotsy Totsie Red Hat Society. Her favorite activity was attending all of her grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Lewie; children, Dennis Reyman of Correctionville, David and Wendi Reyman of Cushing, and Denise and Randy Wright of Correctionville; grandchildren, Jessica Wright of Ames, Alison Wright of Correctionville, Garrett Reyman of South Sioux City, and Casey Reyman of Cushing; her mother, Hilda Groepper of Correctionville, who passed away the following day; a brother, Roger Groepper of Escondido, Calif; a sister and her husband, Marilyn and Robert Heilman of Cushing; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Groepper; and brothers-in-law, Richard Daehn and Stanley Heilman.
