Lyla Mae Shupe, 65, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at her residence with her family by her side.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Lyla Mae Shupe was born March 3, 1940, in Luton, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Rubie (Bowman) Barngrover. She graduated from Smithland High School in Smithland, Iowa.

She married Gary L. Shupe on Aug. 10, 1958, in South Sioux City. The couple lived in Smithland until moving to Sioux City in 1965. She had been employed with Zenith prior to working at Matney's Westside Manor from 1985 to 1995.

Most of her time was spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She will be missed deeply by those she left behind.

Survivors include her husband, of 47 years, Gary; a son and his wife, Gary and Christine Shupe of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters and their husbands, Denise and Chad Harrison, Lynette and Brian Cline and Donna and Craig Walsh, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Kelsey and Cody Harrison, Taylor, Jacob and Alex Cline, Hannah, Madison and Jonah Shupe and Ryan Walsh; and four brothers, Russ and Marge McLarty of Kingsley, Iowa, Ernie Barngrover of St. Charles, Mo., Ronald Barngrover of Smithland and Dave and Pat Barngrover of Smithland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wes Barngrover, Lewis McLarty, Donald Barngrover and Edwin Barngrover; and a sister, Lois Bruins.

Pallbearers will be Craig Walsh, Ryan Walsh, Ed McLarty, David Barngrover Jr., Martin Barngrover and Les Love. Honorary pallbearer will be Cody Harrison.
