SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Harold B. Jones Sr., 87, of South Sioux City died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Assembly of God Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Tom Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mr. Jones was born Dec. 11, 1917, in Montana, the son of George and Elizabeth (Reimer) Jones. He moved with his family to O'Neill, Neb., at the age of two. He attended schools in O'Neill, graduating with the class of 1935 as valedictorian. He then attended the University of Nebraska before joining the U.S. Army. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Elinor Sharp on Dec. 12, 1941. From this union two children were born, Harold Jr. and Debbie. Elinor died Nov. 10, 1986 in Omaha. He married Myrna Rich on Dec. 31, 1976, in South Sioux City.

He was a finance manager for Firestone in Omaha before starting his own business in 1952. He owned and operated Grant Tire (formerly Grant Oil) for more than 20 years before moving the business to Sioux City in 1972. He owned and operated the business in Sioux City for about 20 years.

He attended Morningside Assembly of God Church. He had served on several church boards and operated a children's ministry in Sioux City for about 10 years. He also did ministry to inmates at the Woodbury County and Dakota County jails.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna of South Sioux City; a son, Harold B. Jones Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Debbie and David Freeland of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Jeanine and Eugene Crummel of Scotts, Mich., and Roxine Kemp and Rocky Ring of Portage, Mich.; a brother, Charles Jones of Prestage, Idaho; a sister and her husband, Bernice and Robert Jenkins of Sun City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie and Beatrice.

Pallbearers will be Paul and Ben Jones, John Freeland, Bradley and Brett Kemp and Barton Gottfried.
