WINNEBAGO, Neb. -- John Garret (Ho A Pinga) Crow, 58, of Winnebago passed on to the Spirit World Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Native American Church in Winnebago. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today, with traditional wake service, at the church, with Bernard Little George officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program.

John was born Nov. 21, 1947, to Josephine (Brown) and Norris Daniel Crow in Winnebago. He was raised in Sioux City. He attended school in Sioux City at Central High School and Western Iowa Tech Community College. He studied forestry at Everett Community College in Everett, Wash.

He married his life-time companion Lenora Baker on Oct. 2, 2004, at their home in Winnebago.

He belonged to the Bear Clan and was a full-blooded member of the HoChunk Nation of Wisconsin. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and family member. He will be missed deeply by those he left behind.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John D. Saul and Colin Crow, both of Sioux City; two daughters, Joanie Lund and her husband, Cliff Brown of Sioux City and Angel Crow of Portland, Ore.; four sisters and their husbands, Frieda and Don Breum, Judy Yellowbank and John Big Eagle Sr., all of Sioux City, Jeanne and Gordon Roberts of Tama, Iowa, and Elizabeth and Dennis Robertson of Onawa, Iowa; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Yellowbank, Anthony Yellowbank Sr., Steve Crow, Andrew Crow, Dawson Big Eagle and Michael John Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Antone Ross, Darwin Snyder, Dion Hunter, Steven Roberts, John Big Eagle Jr., Jesse Big Eagle, Dustin Big Eagle, Dakota Grant, Walter John, Don Breum, Nikolas Saul, Todd Lund Jr. and Adrian Lund.
