ANTHON, Iowa -- Ethel M. Guthridge, 89, of Anthon died Friday, March 25, 2005, Correctionville (Iowa) Nursing and Rehab Center.

Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon and proceed to Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon for graveside services with Pastor Kody Killian officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ethel Mae Guthridge was born Oct. 21, 1915, near Anthon, the daughter of Elmer and Eva (Dicus) Waugh. She grew up and was educated in the Anthon area where she continued to live her entire life.

On June 15, 1931, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Crowther Guthridge in Sioux City. Wilbur died Sept. 15, 1971.

Ethel worked at Buck's Cafe and Deeker Drugstore in Anthon and later at IBP. She also worked at Gothier Mink Farm during pelting season.

Survivors include a son and his wife, David and Suzanne Guthridge of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Alan of Albuquerque, N.M., Michael of Minneapolis, Minn., and Katherine, Marc and Madeline of Sioux City; a great-grandson, Shun; and a special friend, Evelyn Louise Guthridge of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
