Maynard "Pat" Stephenson, 86, of Sioux City died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Maynard "Pat" Stephenson was born May 9, 1918, in Moville, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Bunning) Stephenson. He grew up in Moville and graduated from Moville High School in 1937. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, from October 1942 to November 1947. He was wounded in action on Feb. 20, 1945, and received the Purple Heart Medal.

He married Bertha Vogel on Aug. 5, 1949, in Yakima, Wash. He was employed with Zenith (Wincharger) from 1952 to 1977.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bertha; two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Gordon Lebowich and Renee and Mike Tadlock, all of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Brian and Margaret Stephenson of Sioux City and Tim and Robin Stephenson of Rio Rancho, N.M.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Sylvia Marsh of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Brian Stephenson, Tim Stephenson, Gordon Lebowich, Mike Tadlock, Andrew Gates, Joshua Lebowich and Todd Fogelman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Luke's Society and Hospice of Siouxland.
