Mary D. Mudder, 88, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Third Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kathy Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (formerly Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel).

Mary was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Ravinia, S.D., the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Chytka) Dvorak. She graduated from Ravinia High School. She worked as a grocery clerk for Joe Summers Grocery in Wagner, S.D. before her marriage.

She married Chris Mudder in 1940 at Elk Point, S.D. The couple moved to Sioux City, where she was employed at Frank Pilley & Sons for 20 years. She then worked at Wincharger-Zenith-Dyna Technology and retired in 1977.

She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and ZCBJ Lodge in Wagner, S.D.

Survivors include her husband, Chris of Sioux City; a brother, Kenneth Dvorak and his wife, Ruth of Wagner; a sister, Elsie Goranson and her husband, Willard of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, William, Joseph, Roy, Emil, Lloyd and Edward; and four sisters, Vlasta Wagner, Sylvia Musilek, Clara Svatos and Rose Walters.
