HORNICK, Iowa -- Nick L. Steinhoff, 24, of Hornick died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the New Gym at Westwood Community School in Sloan, Iowa, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Nick was born Nov. 30, 1980, in Sioux City, the son of Jack Steinhoff and Julie Jones. He attended school at Westwood Community School in Sloan, where he enjoyed wrestling and baseball. He graduated with the class of 1999 and then attended Dana College at Blair, Neb., for one year. He helped his dad with farming and was employed with UPS in the freight department.

Nick was a member of Hornick United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jack and Janet Steinhoff of Hornick; his mother, Julie Jones of Sioux City; his fiancee, Amy Jones of Salix, Iowa; a sister, Mandy Steinhoff of Sioux City; two brothers, Craig Hanson with the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and Alex Jones of Sioux City; a nephew, Riley of Sioux City; his grandparents, Marlyn Ganzhorn of Mapleton, Iowa and JoAnn Doerneman of Howells, Neb. and Ernest and Patricia Jones of Holiday, Fla.; and uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dr. Harold Ganzhorn and Howard Doerneman.
