Robert E. James Sr., 58, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. today at a family member's residence, 2020 W. 3rd St., Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home.

Robert was born Nov. 26, 1946, in Sioux City, the son of Louis and Ethel (Peterson) James. He graduated from high school and attended four years of college. He was a resident of Walthill, Neb., moving to Kansas City and Dallas, then returning to Sioux City.

He worked for 22 years as a town cop and deputy sheriff for Thurston County, Neb. He also was a maintenance worker for various apartment complexes in Kansas City and Dallas.

He was a caring father and always took care of his family.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Jr. and Jessica James and Victor James, all of Sioux City; three daughters, Candy and Jose Lopez, Barbara and Orlando Gonzalez and Lorrie James, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Joan and Dennis Bradstreet of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter James; and a sister, Rosalie Gunn.
