Douglas Floyd Bradshaw, 76, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Bradshaw was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Homer and Clara (Kelly) Bradshaw. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a child. He attended school at East High School and continued his education at Morningside College. He entered the U.S. Army in 1946 and played in the U.S. Army Band while stationed in Germany.

He married Mary Ann Bortle on Oct. 16, 1948, in Sioux City. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, and later the U.S. Air Force, in 1948, and headed up the medical clinic at the 185th Air Base until his retirement in 1988. He also had the Doug Bradshaw Orchestra and played in this region for many years. Mary Ann died Sept. 27, 1998.

He loved golfing, reading, crossword puzzles and his dog, Daphne.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Anderson of Westfield, Iowa, and Kathy and her husband, Jim Watterson of Sioux City; a son, Scott Bradshaw of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Shelby and her husband, Curt Harder, Jeramiah Bradshaw and his wife, Holly and Brandon Bradshaw and his special friend, Sarah; and three great-grandchildren, Abbi Harder, Ella Bradshaw and Avery Bradshaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
