Eleanor A. Canton, 95, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig A. Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. today at Larkin Northside Funeral Home. Visitation will resume 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4:15 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church.

Miss Canton was born July 9, 1909, in Sioux City, the daughter of Peter J. and Amy E. (Wattier) Canton. She attended St. Joseph School. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.

She worked for 45 years at the Woodbury County Courthouse in the license bureau.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and was an honorary member of the Catholic Daughters of America Ave Maria Court 269. She enjoyed traveling and was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include four nephews, Jerry, Dick, Bob and John Calhoun; and four nieces, Marijo Butler, Eleanor Drey, Mary Nickerson and Bette Czarnecki.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Aliene Oliver, Louise Canton, Helen Speckhart, Dorothy Schumacher and Frances Calhoun; and two nephews, Bob Speckhart and Jim Calhoun.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Drey, David Butler and Dick and John Calhoun.
