SERGEANT BLUFF -- Edna Mae Walker, 100, of Sergeant Bluff died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Fairbury Cemetery, Fairbury, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Gaul officiating, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Edna was born May 6, 1905, in Daykin, Neb., the daughter of George Campbell and Ophelia Ann (Lemmon) Walker. She attended school in Daykin and Fairbury, Neb. She also attended the University of Nebraska, where she obtained her bachelor of arts degree in mathematics. She went on to attend the University of Chicago of her master's degree and U.C.L.A. for her post-graduate. All of her studies were in mathematics, which helped to obtain a job with McDonnell Douglas as a mathematics engineer.

She was raised in the Fairbury area. She moved to Chicago and later to Los Angeles. She moved to Sioux City in 1995 to be closer to her family. She later moved to the nursing home in Sergeant Bluff in 2003.

She was a member of Leisure World Community Church in Seal Beach, Calif. She enjoyed teaching math and Latin, learning, traveling the world, genealogy and being a part of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include three nieces, Opal and her husband, Harold Davis of Sioux City, Thelma Carrick of Hayden, Idaho, and June and her husband, Mike Baumer of Los Angeles; a nephew and his wife, James and Gloria Walker of Omaha; a niece-in-law, Phyllis Wolfe of Allerton, Iowa; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Walker; a sister, Zeva Wolfe; and two nephews, Rodney and Warren Walker.
