Bonnie Pauline Pojar, 73, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Craig Mellendorf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Bonnie Cornwell was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Sioux City, the daughter of John Thornton and Elsie Helena (Martin) Cornwell. She was raised in Sioux City and attended public schools. She graduated from Central High School in 1950.

She was united in marriage 55 years ago to Virgil Pojar. Together, they helped raise their seven children. Their entire marriage was spent in Sioux City. She was employed with Security Bank for 15 years, IBP for 10 years and then with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards and playing Yahtzee with the grandchildren. She was an excellent cook.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Pojar of Sioux City; five sons and their wives, Scotty and Ardis Pojar, Randy and Roxanne Pojar and Greg and Diane Pojar, all of Sioux City, Jeff and Tammy Pojar of Portage, Mich., and Danny and Donna Pojar of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Steve Langel of Jefferson, S.D., and Julie and Larry Hallstrom of Arlington, Neb.; a sister and her husband, Wanda and Gerry Speck of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lonnie and Bob Cornwell; and a sister, Opal Anderson.
