Mary Agnes (Crilly) Burke, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005. A former Sioux City resident and most recently of San Juan Capistrano, Calif. She was well known in our community for more than 70 years.

Services were held Oct. 13 at Saint Irenaeus Church in Cypress, Calif. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery under a bright blue sky, a multitude of flowers and surrounded by friends and family.

Born in Anthon, Iowa, July 31, 1918, she was the fourth child born to Hugh and Florence Crilly. She was raised on the family farm and attended Anthon schools. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux City. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for years and later Cathedral parish. She was a member of Saint Irenaeus Church.

Memories will be cherished of her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her giving nature and genuine goodwill for friends and neighbors will leave a warm place in many hearts.

She is survived by her adult children, Mike and his wife, Carol, Alice Burke and Joanne Burke Stager and her husband, John; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons, all who resided in Southern California; a brother, Mike Crilly; three sisters, Pauline Sorensen, Sister Alice Marie Crilly and Eileen Renneker; and millions of nieces and nephews, all of them her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Francis, Wayne, Ralph and Gene; a sister, Nell; her husband, Vincent S. Burke; an infant son, James Michael; and a granddaughter, Lora Ann.

Pallbearers were Jim and Peter Burke, grandsons, Ruth Crilly, niece, Gary Crilly, nephew, and Steve Farrington and Robert Griggs, friends.
