Donald A. Kistner, 94, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Wiekert officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Donald was born June 25, 1911, in Brewster, Minn., to Herman and Clara (Sitts) Kistner.

On Feb. 13, 1932, he married his teenage sweetheart and love of his life, Grace Babcock. They were married nearly 68 years. She passed away in December 1998. Donald worked as a mechanic in his brother's garage and Wincharger/Zenith until its closing. He retired at 62 from International Truck and had been retired for 33 years. He continued to work on motors for many years after his retirement.

He was of the Methodist faith. Donald loved to bowl, camp, get together with family and celebrate his birthday. He also enjoyed playing baseball, which he pitched for more than 40 years. He pitched for the Leeds baseball team and various other towns from Sioux City to southern Minnesota.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Kistner of Jefferson, S.D., his children, Michael Kistner and wife, Lori of Eden Prairie, Minn., Karen Paul and husband, Jim of Eden Prairie and Lori Donaldson and husband, Rev. John of Reed, Ga., and nine great-grandchildren; Faye Kistner and wife, Twyla of Conesville, Iowa, their children, Kelly Kistner and wife, Pat of McCook Lake, S.D., Kirk Kistner and wife, Lori of Sioux City, Kristie Sandon and husband, Steve of West Des Moines, Iowa, Kory Kistner and wife, Penni of Sioux City, and Kyle Kistner and wife, Nikki of Omaha, Neb., 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and Ron Kistner and wife, Dot of Jefferson, S.D., their children, Patrick Kistner and wife, Lynn of Oahu, Hawaii, Shara McGown and husband, Chris of Basehor, Kan., and Steve Kistner and wife, Darcie of St. Michael, Minn., and five great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, John Brown of Sergeant Bluff, his children, Kim and husband, John of Mesa, Ariz., Chris Brown and husband, Kelli of Sergeant Bluff, Karla Copple and husband, Rob of Sloan, Iowa, and Keri Brown of Orlando, Fla., and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; a daughter, Trudy Brown; brothers, John, Paul and Mark; and sisters, Ruth, Naomi, Esther and Alta.
