SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Margaret Ellen Cox, 89, of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at a South Sioux City nursing home.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Evangelical Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Terry Embke officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the City Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Margaret was born Aug. 19, 1916, in rural Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of August "Gus" and Emma A. "Midge" (Hord) Turman. She graduated from Smithland High School in 1934.

She married Charles Darrell Cox on March 11, 1937, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Iowa and Minnesota. Charles died May 31, 1973, in New Ulm, Minn. After his death, she moved to South Sioux City in 1978, and did baby-sitting.

She was a member of Evangelical Church.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, the Rev. Donald and Joylene Cox of Littleton, Colo., Dean and Dorothy Cox of Pierre, S.D., and Raymond D. and Pearl Cox of Thornton, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Dorothy J. and Charles Pogue of Los Lunas, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James D. Cox; and a granddaughter, Renee.

Pallbearers will be James, the Rev. Donald, M. Dean and Raymond Cox and Chad and Zachary Mills.
