Coletta I. Shearer, 102, resided with her son and daughter-in-law, James and Anna Shearer in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, in Charles Town, W.Va.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., in Sioux City.

Coletta was born June 27, 1903, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Otilia Weibel Carroll and Patrick Francis Carroll. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Emmetsburg.

She was married for more than 64 years to Thomas W. Shearer, to whom she wed in 1926. Thomas preceded her in death in 1990. She had resided in Sioux City for more than 80 years. She moved to Berkeley Springs, W.Va. to be with her son in 2003.

She enjoyed the outdoors and prized a beautiful view. She had a passion for traveling and did so extensively with her husband following their retirement. She was fond of an afternoon drive, especially those on scenic byways. The time she spent with her family and friends is what she treasured most.

She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs.

Survivors include a son and his wife, James D. and Anna Shearer of Berkeley Springs; grandchildren, Carole Ann Shearer of Dale City, Va., Angela Shearer of Falls, Church, Va., Theresa and her husband, Eric Eisenman of Charles Town, W.V., and Kathleen and her husband, Matt Lieberson of Damascus, Md.; a great-grandchild, Sara Lieberson of Damascus, Md.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her husband, Thomas W. Shearer; a sister, Mary Gertrude Hoversten; and a brother, Francis Reginald Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Shearer, Matt Lieberson, Eldon Martini, Craig Hatler, Philip Kubal and Andy Hatler.
