Norman Bennett Hedges, 60, of Sioux City died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David B. Haynes of Morningside Church of Christ officiating. Private graveside services will be Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Norman Hedges was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Windom, Minn., the son of Henry T. and Lurie B. (Moser) Hedges. He attended school at New Hope in Sioux City. Norm moved with his family from Windom to Sioux City in 1949. Later, he resided at the Glenwood State School in Glenwood, Iowa, for a period of time. More recently, he had been employed at WACO in Sioux City for several years.

Norm loved to dance, sing and play guitar. He was a collector of Batman memorabilia. He thoroughly enjoyed horses and all things western.

Survivors include six sisters, Fern Wolf of Milwaukee, Wis., Lainys Stevens of Walla Walla, Wash., Bonnie Peters and her husband, Vernon of Albuquerque, N.M., Betty Fletcher and her husband, Harold of Evert, Wash., Beverly Cason of Kingsley, Iowa and Nancy Hedges and her husband, Norman of Savage, Minn.; a brother, Lewis Hedges and his wife, Carolyn of Walla Walla, Wash.; three sisters-in-law, Donna Hedges of Sioux City, Betty Jean Hedges of Mason City, Iowa and Janice Hedges of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, James Raley of Claremore, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Marvin "Bud" Hedges, Willard Hedges and Leighton Hedges; and two sisters, Donna Raley and Gail Hedges.
