HORNICK, Iowa -- Alice M. Comly, 64, of Hornick died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Willman Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa.

Alice was born July 9, 1941, in Sioux City, to Leonard and Vivian (Miller) Dowdy. She was raised about three and one half miles northeast of Holly Springs. In 1953, her folks bought the locker plant in Holly Spring and moved into town. She graduated from Hornick-Holly Springs Community School in 1959. She moved to Omaha and attended business college.

She graduated from Commercial Extension Business School in the fall of 1960, at which time she met Larry. About one year later on March 26, 1961, they were married and shortly after they moved back to Holly Springs. To this union, one son, Timothy, was born.

She loved sports, especially baseball and wrestling. She spent many summers in a school bus at baseball games.

Survivors include her husband, Larry of Hornick; a son, Timothy Ardon Comly of Three Rivers, Mich.; and a brother, Vincent William Dowdy of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
