Janet Lou (Gile) Wendel of Sioux City died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness with septic shock.

Private family services will be held. Graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Wendel was born May 13, 1933, in Carroll, Iowa. She graduated from Valentine High School in 1951, in Valentine, Neb. She worked for Dr. Farner in Valentine, Neb., Dr. William Schoenwetler in St. Louis Park, Minn., at Sears in Mason City, Iowa, at Sioux City Vet Supply and as a receptionist at KSCJ Radio in Sioux City.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Wendel of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Gary D. and Maggie Peyton of Des Moines and Keith G. and Linda Peyton of Dell Rapids, S.D.; a sister and her husband, Ann H. and Robert Seifert of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a brother and his wife, Jack A. and Terri Jo Gile of St. Louis, Mo.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Melinda J. and Virgil Schmit and Michael T. and Nicole Peyton; great-grandchildren, Sydnee J. Schmit, Anna M. Schmit, Dayne M. Peyton and Ty N. Peyton; and nieces and nephews, Robert H. Seifert and his wife, Kathy, Beverly A. Seifert, James L. Seifert and his wife, Dawn, Todd A. Gile and Ryan D. Gile and his wife, Melinia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard J. and Lois J. Gile.
