Jane Swanson McGarry, 52, of Sioux City died Saturday, November 29, 1997 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dann Speichinger officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Swanson McGarry was born October 28, 1945 in Sioux City, the daughter of Francis and Thelma (Smith) Swanson.

She was afflicted with polio at the age of six and spent six weeks in the iron lung at St. Vincent’s Hospital before going to the Sister Elizabeth Kenny Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She attended grade school at the Iowa City Hospital School and graduated from high school in Jamestown, North Dakota.

She married Francis McGarry in 1975.

She was a member of Washington Heights Chapel and enjoyed ceramics.

Survivors include her father of Sioux City, a brother and his wife, Paul A. and Rita Swanson of Sioux City, a sister and her husband, Mary Anne and Gerald Diebert of Sioux City and her special friend, Jerry Mehner of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Pallbearers will be Peter Langlois, Brian Swanson, Lawrence Parrish, Norman Clay, James Coon and Gerlad Diebert.
